– 1995, How it Started
Nadya Mistry graduated in 1995 with a BA in Fashion Designing (Stylisme et Modelisme)From the prestigious L.I.S.A.A. (L’íInstitut Superieur des Arts Appliques),Pars where she was selected as one of the top students by design visionary Paco Rabanne
After graduating, Mistry completed two coveted internships; one with Cerruti 1881 in Paris, and the other with Mary McFadden in New York.
– 1997, Beginning
In 1997 Mistry launched her design career in Karachi, Pakistan, initially embarking on a successful export business of her designs to the United Kingdom (London, Manchester and Birmingham. Mistry is one of the first Pakistani Designers to make in-roads into the Western market.
– 2000 , New Age Flagship!
In March 2000, Mistry opened her New Age flagship boutique in Park Towers, Karachi, (with its innovative and ground-breaking in-house glass runway catwalk) which was inaugurated by Hon. Giles Bonnaud, the then Consul General for France in Karachi.
With the universal appeal of her designs and fabric manipulations, Mistry has developed a client base that is widely spread across the globe, especially in the United States including clientele in Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, Washington, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Atlanta. She has also singularly provided exquisite embroidery to international clothiers.
The NADYA MISTRY label is stocked at various multi-brand stores, both nationally (Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Islamabad) and internationally (Dubai, Chicago, London et al.)
Mistry has also had the privilege of dressing local celebrities, actors, TV hosts, singers and Pop stars, as well as International icons such as Bollywood actresses and Liz Mitchell of Boney M.
In House Fashion Show: “LOLITA” With the advent of the New Millennium, Mistry, titillated Karachiites with her irreverent homage to prepubescent and burgeoning
womanhood with her bi-annual burlesque Lolita shows – using real girls, scouted from schools and colleges and trained in-house for the runway – at her New Age flagship boutique at Park Towers, showcasing
“The Lolita Collection” including “Through Rose-Tinted Glass, Lolita (2001);
“Lolita Returns” (2003) and “Lolita Travels” (2005)
The Lolita line included Prêt and semi-formal wear geared towards 15 to 30 year-olds, who demanded quality and style at an affordable price.
In the last decade- and- a -half, Mistry has consolidated her business model; working from a stylish atelier; overseeing a large and actively bustling factory and production space and focusing on expanding her international presence and exports to foreign markets.
